About the Luckyday Foundation
The Luckyday Foundation was established by the late Frank R. Day of Jackson, who spent much of his professional career as chairman of the board and CEO of Trustmark National Bank. Day was a native of Aberdeen in Monroe County.
The Luckyday Foundation provides scholarship funding of up to $6,000 per year for a total of $24,000 over four years to each student selected for the program. Luckyday scholars are exemplary students with the goal of becoming MSU graduates who possess strong leadership skills, work ethic, commitment to services, and need for financial assistance to pursue higher education at Mississippi State University.
With the addition of Mississippi State in 2019, the Luckyday Scholars Program has a presence at the three major state public universities.
The Luckyday Scholars Program’s mission is to create a community of scholars who aspire to servant leadership. At the heart of that process, the scholars will be investing in the core values of scholarship, community, service, and leadership.
Participants experience opportunities to continue their growth and development in servant leadership, to have a community of support within their cohort and the program, and to have intentional programming offering open dialogue around responsibilities of servant leadership.
In addition to helping students afford college expenses, Luckyday also encourages students to graduate in four years while maintaining academic standards and getting involved in their communities.
